![]() ![]() ![]() It wasn’t something I was looking for at the time, but now I feel I should give the novel a chance. I decided against picking up the novel at the time because it is a shorter novel and a standalone. I knew of Margaret Rogerson because of her debut novel, Enchantment of Ravens. Who knew young adult fantasy would be the antidote to my desire to read a story that helped me escape my real-life problems? This book was not just another fantasy story I would get caught up in to complain about. As mentioned in my previous article about The Way of Kings, I was growing tired of the tropes conveyed in the young adult fantasy. This opinion birthed from an era where I only wanted to read adult fantasies. Let’s talk about one book on my shelf I never expected to enjoy: Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson. I decided to give my books an early Christmas present, some attention. I want to mention that I delved into many books this year, given that I have book shelves dense with my Christmas ornament and overly dusty book spines that have yet to be pulled from the shelf and read. So, with this year being as taxing as it has, I turn to one of my favorite ways to escape my problems, Reading. The election, fighting to survive a pandemic, stress to find work after not having a steady income for months. November has been no less than exhausting for me personally. ![]()
